Don't let her innocent little scarf fool you

On Friday I had my first fitting for my wedding dress. When I got to the counter to pay, the total cost for the alterations ended up being several hundred dollars more than I was originally quoted when I bought the dress a couple of weeks ago. They also wanted to charge me for pressing the dress, and I was originally told that was included for free.

Not knowing what to do because I am not confrontational with strangers, despite acting like I'm a badass, I handed over my credit card. I called my mom afterwards and filled her in.

She was livid.

When my mom is livid, people die.

She called up the bridal shop and what started as a friendly conversation between her and the owner, apparently escalated to full out war. When it was over my mom called me back and said, "Uh you might want to call the bridal shop, it got a little heated and she hates me now. I'm not sure if she is still willing to alter your dress."

So I call the bridal shop and started with, "Um hi this is Erica, uh it's my understanding you just got in a bit of a fight with my mother?"

And then the owner started crying. My mom made her cry.

I quote the shop owner, "Tell your mother that yelling and screaming gets her nowhere in life!"

Well in the end I was given the cleaning and pressing for free, saving me $200 dollars. So I have to disagree.
