Coke Girls

Grandma, originally uploaded by erigutt.

I'm in a family blog posts kind of mood today.

I just read my Aunt Karen's blog, and her tribute to my grandma and her sisters (http://eekaren.blogspot.com/2008/01/im-sorry-mom.html).

Truer words have never been spoken. You may not think you're lazy, but stand next to my Grandma during a family weekend and you'll feel like Jaba the Hut as she irons, cooks, cleans and scorns me about not bringing my church clothes simultaneously.

I love you grandma, and your sisters; thank you Randall Girls for passing on a satisfying Coca-Cola addiction.

This has been long over due.

I have such fond memories of being scolded for not helping vacuum the stairs and peeling green chilis.

I distinctly remember Sneaky reverently pouring herself an icy chilled Coke into a fancy tumbler on the rocks every afternoon.

Dene you da bomb.

Michelle, Ordene drank Tab, as I distinctly remember.

She was always carrying a rag and muttering about "smelling dust". She had Carole and I up on ladders dusting those window sills right up against her 15 foot ceilings on more than one occasion. I have so many Willard and Dean stories I could fill a book. Happily. She is one in a billion, that woman. Love her.

Havent stopped by for a about a week, and I missed the Mom tribute - so true on all acounts. I love how she nurses that coke all day and then only eats ONE taco at El Rancho (and maybe 3 chips) - who does that???
