Christmas Crafts

When I do a crafty project, the following steps take place:
  1. Think of an idea. Convince myself I am very crafty.
  2. Tell Zach about idea, go on and on about how easy, cute, and cheap it will be. Zach feigns interest.
  3. Go buy supplies for project. Get overwhelmed at store. Change ideas about five times while at store. Spend way too much money and way too much time. Leave store not knowing who I am or what my purpose is.
  4. Refocus on project with newly purchased supplies at home. Realize I forgot several things that I will need.
  5. Back to store. See step 3.
  6. Abandon entire project for days. Tell Zach I've decided to abandon project. He asks, "What project?"
  7. Get new burst of energy a few days later, haphazardly throw something together that isn't very close to original idea. Vow to never do another craft project again.

This is pretty much exactly what happened when I decided to make Christmas cards and hand out snacks to my neighbors; but when looking at these pictures just pretend I effortlessly created them as the highly proficient crafter that I am.

Chocolate dipped pretzels for my neighbors.

(Upon taking my first attempt at melting chocolate out of the microwave - the chocolate was burnt into a thick sludge and the glass bowl shattered as I put it on the counter.)

Sneak peak at my cards.

My mother on the other hand actually is a very skilled crafter and I will never hold a candle to her talent. She whipped up these Christmas wreaths for me without breaking a sweat.

The cards turned out so cute! And melting chocolate in the microwave could be the most frustrating kitchen task there is. Your mom's wreaths are amazing. I love the hanging down one.

Um....I'm a neighbor...hello...

Your mom never makes me any wreaths.

Ok, done whining. For now.

Sounds like my my attempts at craftiness. Thus the reason I rarely attempt.

The pretzels look yummy! I wish I were a neighbor... :-)

Christine Kay, your house is already overwhelmed with Christmas flair.

lol Chris I'll bring you some! I guess I shouldn't have said neighbors, we took them to the familes of the kids in our nursery class.

I'm in your nursery class...well, kind of...

You don't have to bring any. Not really. Not unless you have extra...

Heck, I aspire to be one tenth as crafty as you are!!! I love all your design projects ... I can't wait until I own a home that's mine to decorate as I please. I will be looking at your old posts for inspiration, that's for sure!
