Cookies

Remember that Friends where Monica tries to figure out Phoebe's grandma's secret chocolate chip cookie recipe because she wants to some day be known as the mom that makes the very best chocolate chip cookies?

I don't think I'm gonna be that mom. Unless kids like their cookies flat and gross.
weekend 004

Rachel and Chad came over and I said I'd make them cookies, sadly these are the results they were met with. Also Zach accidentally served them drinks in dirty cups from the dishwasher that he thought were clean.

We are good at hosting!

Next time just add 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of extra flour and they'll plump right up. I discovered on accident that using expired vanilla also makes yummy-tasting cookies. But I can't guarantee that this won't poison you, so you may not want to follow that tip.

Freeze your flour. It makes them more fluffy. Also keep your butter cold, even better, use half margarine or half shortening they don't flatter like butter does. Or you could chill your dough for about an hour.

I'll bet they tasted good though!!

I have the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. I would give it to you, but it's not like it's even *mine*. I can tell you where to find it though!

Also, I just went through Mother's Day and all my kids wrote on ALL their little surveys and notes they made for me at school that they love me because I make awesome brownies, they love me because I bake them cookies, etc etc. It was flattering, but also kind of weird. It was ALL they talked about.

I'm not sure it's all its cracked up to be, is what I'm saying. Maybe set the bar low.

FIrst off-congratulations on your pregnancy! I've been reading your blog for about a year-so excited for you. :)

I use this chocolate chip recipe and they always turn out great and get compliments. I got it off of Top Secret Recipes website.

Mrs. Field's Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 c. (2 sticks) softened butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 t. vanilla extract
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 t. salt
1 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1 1/2 twelve-ounce bags semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla.

In another bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda.

Combine the wet and dry ingredients.
Stir in the chocolate chips.

With your fingers, place golf ball-sized dough portions 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 9 minutes or just until the edges are light brown.

Makes two dozen cookies.

Trust me-these are YUMMY!
