Girlfriends (this is going to be long)

Kristy
Kristy Jackson DeWitt
The Beginning:
The stag dance that kicked off the beginning of senior year of high school,
entitled The Hero Hop. We dressed up like super heroes of course,
and I believe Kristy was wearing a metal strainer on her head.
Noteworthy Memory:
A few years ago we both were asked out to a formal Christmas dance put on by our old single's ward. Kristy's date was maybe not ideal. I watched the look of terror on her face as he undid his tie and oh so playfully through it around her waist and kept hold of both ends as they danced to an upbeat song. I loved my life at that moment.
Girlfriend Role:
Kristy is the most nurturing of all the girlfriends. She listens
to each of our problems, often as we sit in her salon chair, and provides empathy beyond measure. Plus she cracks us all up, usually unintentionally.
malia
Malia Meadows Call
The Beginning:
8th grade science perhaps? We weren’t really friends yet though. She sat across the room and entertained the kids at her table with her hilarious personality. I sat by a weird girl who squirted me with cow eye juice when we had to dissect one.
Noteworthy Memory:
Chemistry, senior year; the first and only time I’ve ever been kicked out of class. I was not so politely asked to leave when I couldn’t stop laughing at something Malia did or said. There was also note passing, not doing our work, lusting after a boy who sat between us and who hated us for making him pass our note.
Girlfriend Role:
Malia obviously is hilarious and keeps us all laughing often at her own expense. She’s also there to motivate you with a long pep talk if you need one, and at the first sound of your sniffle she’ll be at your house before you hang up the phone with her.
Rachel
Rachel Jones
The Beginning:
Hero Hop. See Kristy entry. None of us ever looked back.
Noteworthy Memory:
Any Halloween costume I’ve ever tried to put together with Rachel has been a disaster. When we were treasure trolls the undertaking became MUCH larger than either of us expected, and the results after months of preparation? As Rachel aptly put it, “We’re not funny enough to pull these off, we just look ugly.” Last year we were witches, and she
yelled at me for turning my stockings into leggings.
Girlfriend Role:
Rachel is forever the reluctant hostess. We end up at her house expecting entertainment 80% of the time, and she delivers. She is our observer, knowing us all so well it’s almost scary; and makes me laugh impersonating the other girls. She also has the memory of a computer, which she uses to remind us of every stupid thing we’ve ever done together
down to the most minute detail.
heidi
Heidi Clouse Allen
The Beginning:
Taylor Junior High, when I so willingly became one of the regular attendees of Heidi’s famous 9th grade parties. My first experiences with boy-girl parties; monumental.
Noteworthy Memory:
Ditching school with Heidi and Malia junior year. We went to Malia’s and the three of us layed down on Malia’s bed to take a nap. We started reciting a few movie quotes and Heidi’s lines sucked. Wrong lines, wrong voice inflection, wrong movie. Hilariousness. We have henceforth requested movie quotes from Heidi just to laugh at her. I thank you again Heidi.
“Whatcha you be trippin’ at Dar-EK.”
Girlfriend Role:
Heidi is the dad of the girlfriends. No, not the mom, the dad; because she changes tires. She is calm and reliable in emergency situations. She is also there to laugh at your dumb jokes when no one else will; an attribute of hers that I utilize often.
Casey
Casey Cotter
The Beginning:
Hero Hop. That dumb dance was the beginning of a beautiful thing.
Noteworthy Memory:
Slumber parties at my Tempe house. Casey was the official master of “Four Kings” a card game that basically consists of making up day dreams about boys. She always came up with the best scenarios. Another one I must mention (sorry Malia) is when Malia was a little upset after getting pulled over by the poe-poe on the way home from California and Casey cackled when the rest of us were too scared to speak.
Girlfriend Role:
Casey is our dreamer, and therefore she is our biggest supporter when it comes to our own dreams and aspirations. She is also the one to lighten the mood in any situation with her ridiculousness. She gets along with everyone, and I know people always say that about someone and you’re like “Yeah right. No one gets along with everyone.” Well Casey is the exception, because she really does.
girls
I love you girlfriends!

I am completely blown away by this entry. It made me want to cry and at times I laughed at how dead on you were. This entry was so thoughtful and it was so fun to read all of our personality traits and how different all of us really are. I love you Gut!

lol no one will read it but the girlfriends because it is annoyingly long, but that's okay. Cheers to the girls.

Whatever, we totally read it and loved it! Girls will always read things about best friend love. Only when the blogs are about husband worship do they get boring.

I know! I keep wanting to click on your blog but I can't because of Harry spoilers. I'm savoring it! I better hurry and finish it though because I'm afraid it will be ruined for me.

Dang my November birthday that put me a year behind you guys, I suppose it's cool to have my sisters be my best friends or something! Anywho, I absolutely loved this, seeing as how I am very jealous of every one of you guys! Girl Power!

What do you mean "no one else will read this" When you said the work "Girlfriends" you have us all hooked. I have been compiling pictures of all my friends (2) and want to do a tribute page, but now you ruined it for me with you witty, creative writing, I would be deleting every other line. Oh well, I still LOVE my girlfriends (down to 1, oh, its my sister, does that count?)
