Wish Tree

bad vs good, originally uploaded by erigutt.

Instead of a sign-in book at the reception I've decided to display a "Wish Tree". Guests will write their well wishes for Zach and I on cute tags and then hang them on a tree. Of course they just might write "Die mother effers" but it'll look cute anyway. And actually that would be funny.

Of course I've seen examples of how the wish tree idea can go terribly wrong (left picture) and examples of a successfully executed wish tree (right picture). So there is some risk involved. Except I'm pretty sure mine is going to blow all your minds with its glory.

(I'm sorry if the maker of the rafia monstrosity is reading this and I offended you.....well not that sorry)

WARNING: DO NOT PLACE CANDLES UNDER A DEAD TREE BRANCH COVERED WITH CONSTRUCTION PAPER! I love ya Erica, but I'm not lovin' the Wish Tree. A money tree? Maybe...but still, no candles.

I'm pretty sure that rafia is an invention of the devil.

that left one is like a preschool project to kill time while waiting for parental arival.

i think this idea rocks.

only thing better if if you had a life-sized paper cutout of you and Zack and people could sign it like you are rockstars.

or if they wrote messages on rocks and chucked em at the two of you as the ceremony ended, wait im pretty sure that's an outdated tradition, like way back to biblical times.

I've seen other variations of this at various weddings. I've seen plates signed by the guests (It was a pretty big plate), and a good friend of mine had everyone sign a huge mat that would ultimately be framed around her wedding picture. I thought it was really cool.
You have to be careful with that tree so it looks classy...and not done with coat hangers and raffia. :( :(

Love the wish tree idea. We did a variation of that sans the tree. With is much cuter. Will they be simple cards or letterpress, etc...?

I love the wish tree...and if Erica is in charge it will look perfect.

Could we just stick post-it notes on you and Zach?

I saw one at a wedding that had spots for you to stick cash in with your wishes. Might as well make the most bang for your buck huh?!
