Finding “The Dress”

Yeah see those little clips along the back? Just a few alterations right? Wrong. This dress almost murdered me, this dress was drama. This dress and the month of December are in cahoots. They got together one day and they were like, “You know what would be fun? Let’s stress Erica out until she almost kills herself and all of her loved ones! High five!” But looking in the mirror that day, I realized I was getting married, and that was pretty great.
Ski and Snowboarding Trip

I was able to add another sport to my list of sports I’m not good at, the list is titled “Every Sport I’ve Ever Attempted”. But still, this was one great weekend.
Camille’s Birthday
>Okay so Camille’s birthday really isn’t a HIGHLIGHT of my YEAR. But this photo is perhaps my favorite photo taken in 2008, and therefore, notable. SWEENER.
Rachel and Chad getting engaged! (and also married)

Zach and I were rooting for this arrangement for quite some time. Back when they were dating, Zach was taking me home one night after we had all hung out and Zach said, “What if Rachel and Chad get married? The four of us would be UNSTOPPABLE!” And our eyes got wide as we silently imagined the possibilities. Now they pretty much just ditch us for Rachel’s family most the time, but it’s still a great foursome.
Taking our engagement photos!

Yes, this was the year of wedding obsession.
Griffin coming home from training

And we just found out he’s leaving us in January for a year in Germany!! We want to go visit, so you can give me some money if you want.
THE WEDDING

Bringing us to May, and of course, our wedding. Which completely took over the blog and my life this year; and I’m not complaining.
THE HONEYMOON

You can’t really go wrong with the Bahamas. But yes, we know our feet aren’t cute.
Our first living quarters

Right after we were married we rented my great-uncle Robert's vacant condo. It wasn’t ours, and we didn’t decorate it, and we only lived there four months. But it was our first toe-dip into living together, and who knew it could be such a blast. This condo was: Wii playing, loving our close location to Tempe Marketplace, movies every weekend, attempting cooking for the first time, making plans for our future, falling down the stairs, Zach’s vacuuming technique, paper/scissors/rock over who had to go downstairs to get something out of storage, and fighting over bed space. Oh, and yelling “We’re married!” at each other, whenever we felt like it.
The donning of the bee costume

Yes, this was a highlight of my year.
Our second living quarters

Moving into and decorating (yay!) our first official apartment!
Halloween

My mom's first annual Halloween party and the 5th annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. Oh Halloween how I love you.
Holbrook in the Fall

Cleaning up leaves with my Grandma and Hailey one afternoon in Holbrook was one of my favorite days this year. It finally felt like fall, I was with people I loved, and the holidays were coming.
And then in about 5 seconds the holidays were over, 2008 was over, and a new year is upon us. Happy New Year everyone! Here's to more blogging in 2009!

Yes, the wedding planning pretty much trumped anything happening from Jan-May.
The pic of Sween will go down in Sween history, nothing stands between her and cake.
You and Zach are so cute, it makes my head hurt.
Lol. I loved when Zach said we would be unstoppable. Because
we are. 2008 was a great year. Thanks for reminding me of all the excitement.
Happy New Year Erica. I may not be the best comment leaver, but I read every post from you. Your blog was one of the first ones I came upon when I began my blog this year. You have truly been an inspiration to me as a confident, beautiful and successful young woman.
Thank you
Oh yeah...she's back, the ultimate blogging Queen.
By the way, Erica ate a whole sheet cake by herself and she still has no butt and no gut which totally sucks!
Official Declaration: Grandma's better-than-manna-from-heaven Texas Sheet Cake aka Inch Cake needs a more befitting name:
Dean Inch Cake, GrandmaGlorious Cake, Death by GMa???
Maybe if I read and comment on everyone else's blog, that will negate the need to do my own.....
Your wedding was DEFINITELY the event of '08, Caca. It ruled all (for us anyway).
So glad you guys could make it to my humble abode last night!!!!
nice re-cap of 2008. I've decided you need to help me decorate my new house. I'm at a total loss, and let's face it...that is your area of expertise.
I am in love with this post, and that picture of your apartment is UH mazing. Here's to 2009 indeed!
I'm so glad you blogged. I miss reading your funniness. Good year, 2008 was. There's a good reason your wedding took up most of it, it was an AWESOME wedding. Seriously. Cute post.
