First, we went to the airport for obvious reasons.

Once in DC our first stop was the White House because it was close to our hotel. Here I am blinking in front of the White House. This is Zach's favorite picture from the entire trip. Probably because of how beautiful I look.

And here is a white house squirrel. Or maybe a hidden camera.

Then we went to the WWII memorial, and there were Veterans there that day, so basically I started balling at the very first memorial we went to. They were so sweet and proud and they were all wearing matching shirts and posing by their states. And I felt so appreciative to all of them.

Then it was on to the Lincoln Memorial. On the way we saw some baby ducks that I wanted to capture and raise as my own. And also, the reflecting pool is not as blue as you might think, because it is muddy brown.

Lincoln is way bigger than I thought he was going to be.

"President Lincoln? It's me Zach."
Me, my bad posture, some ducks, and the Washington Monument.

Our reflection at the Vietnam Memorial. Another place to cry as you read the letters and notes that people have left leaning against the wall with flowers and flags.

Korean War Memorial. My Grandpa Guttery was in this war so it meant a lot to me to see the memorial, really beautiful statues.

Here is Zach slouching in front of the Washington Monument. This is when it started getting really hot and humid and I kept requesting we stop at shaded cafes for icy Diet Cokes and rest, and Zach kept not letting me. Something about only having two days and there was a lot to see, whateves.

We compromised for an air conditioned museum, National Gallery of Art. We were allowed to take pictures without flash, so here I am with a Monet looking a little beat.

Zach and Vincent Van Gogh himself.

National Air and Space Museum was next and how should I put this? It's boring. But Zach was in heaven with all the WWII planes.

Let's get a close up of how content he was. Look at this face. Loving. Life.

Also at the Air and Space Museum was Mike Myers. Because why not?

Zach would only take this picture if I pretended to pose for it. Because Mike Myers' bodyguard might beat him up?
And listen, I have respect for the Museum of Natural History, I do; and the dinosaur bones were awesome. But Danica was right, it is a taxidermy museum, let's just call it what it is. So here is my favorite.

So then Saturday night we went to dinner, and here is Zach and a ghost orb.

And wouldn't this be cute if my bangs weren't being a comb-over? Regrets.

Here are some people doing the Segway DC Tour, I believe the program's official name is "DC Segs". Is it possible to not look awkward on a Segway? The answer is no. These folks agree.

(Those are either water spots, or mini ghost orbs.)
Sunday we took the metro to Georgetown. I told Zach to get a picture of me with the metro sign (I say embrace your status as a tourist, don't fight it) as we went down the escalator. He missed the sign.

Zach and his metro pass.

Another ghost. It's a very historic city, lots of ghosts.

Me pointing out our destination "Dupont Circle", we then walked to Georgetown, and it wasn't as close as we thought. This trip = walking walking walking. And consequently - noodle legs.

And here is a not very good picture of a Georgetown neighborhood, believe me it was beautiful.

And that's pretty much it. So here's the creepiest picture of Zach ever taken. My gift to you for getting through this post.

LOL, I love that last picture of Zach. I read every word on this post I'll have you know. Your trip seemed hilarious and sweet and I'm glad you were able to celebrate your Anniversary!
PS. Another ghost. It's a very historic city, lots of ghosts.
L-O-L
Ahhh finally, I have been anticipating these piccys and was not disappointed.
I think for a day and a half you guys saw a lot...and you should be thanking Zach for not letting you stop every other block. Good Job Zach.
You guys look so cute.
LOLOL I would be just as bored at the museums (except the art one). Lots of ghosts! Submit those pics to Ghost Hunters, asap. You guys saw a lot in two and half days!
What fun. Do it again when you can tour the White House and see the Obama girls running around!
That looks like a blast! Love the pictures. Love the commentary. Love your comb over bangs. Love the friendly ghosts. Don't really love the creepy Zach picture.
Looks like you guys did a lot in those few days! Thank you for that wonderful picture of Zach by the way, I love it, he looks like a total petifile.
Holy Crap -- D.C. in two days? Impressive. Seriously. I've lived her four years and still haven't "done" all of D.C. (insert "That's what she said" joke).
Fun trip. Your recaps are always entertaining!
Awesome pics. I love Zachs pedosmile at the end.
